Terms and Conditions of Registration
1) Payment for classes is due no later than the date of the first
class. Class spots are reserved in the order that actual payment
is received. Customers who register and do not pay immediately
may not be guaranteed a spot in the current session. If the class
registers full prior to receiving payment, your check or money
order will be returned (unless you ask that we apply the payment
to the next available class).
2) There are no makeup dates for missed classes.
3) In addition to teaching at PPDT, our highly qualified instructors
have other personal and professional responsibilities. As a result,
training sessions are occasionally postponed for a week when these
responsibilites conflict and a substitute instructor is unavailable.
You will be notified well in advance of any such postponements.
4) WE WANT OUR CLASSES TO
BE SAFE AND PRODUCTIVE FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS, INSTRUCTORS AND
DOGS. OUR CLASSES ARE NOT FOR AGGRESSIVE OR REACTIVE DOGS -- THEY
ARE DESIGNED FOR DOGS WITHOUT MAJOR BEHAVIORAL ISSUES.
Examples of major behavioral issues include:
- Dog lunges/snaps/barks uncontrollably at the sight of another
dog or person (on or off leash).
- Dog lunges/snaps/barks uncontrollably at anything or anyone
that moves (on or of leash).
- Dog constantly whines/barks/lunges when on leash in the presence
of other dogs
Reactive dogs create a danger to others and are disruptive in
a group class situation. A group setting for a reactive dog creates
barrier frustration for your dog and will do more harm than good
-- it does not socialize your dog. If your dog exhibits signs
of aggression or other behavioral problems, you are must describe
it in the "behavioral issues" section of this registration
form. Prior to registering, we can help you assess whether or
not our training environment is correct for you and your dog --
simply contact us and describe the problem. We also can recommend
good alternatives for dogs with aggression or other behavioral
issues.
FAILURE TO DISCLOSE PREVIOUS AGGRESSION
AND BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS AT THE TIME YOU REGISTER WILL RESULT IN
DISMISSAL FROM CLASS AND FORFEITURE OF ALL CLASS FEES.
5) REFUND POLICY: In exchange for your payment, PPDT will reserve
a spot in the class for which you have registered. No partial
refunds will be issued for missed classes: no refunds will be
issued after we receive your payment and a class spot is reserved.
In rare instances where refunds are issued due to extenuating
circumstances, a $30 fee will be assessed to cover our costs of
handling.
6) Prior to taking a class, owners that adopt new ADULT DOGS
(older than 6 months) should have adequate time to become familiar
with their new companion's characteristics (both good and bad).
A three month introductory period usually allows you to get to
know your new companion and begin to build a relationship. In
these months before coming to class, we highly recommend Positive
Perspectives: Love Your Dog, Train Your Dog by Pat Miller
to help you with your initial training at home (see READING
LIST on this website to order Pat's excellent book).
7) Registrant agrees to adhere to PPDT House Rules posted within
the PPDT facility.
AFTER SUBMITTING PAYMENT, YOU SHOULD ASSUME THAT YOU HAVE A SPOT
IN THE CLASS FOR WHICH YOU REGISTERED. AFTER YOUR PAYMENT IS RECEIVED,
WE WILL NOTIFY YOU PROMPTLY ONLY IN THE EVENT THAT THE CLASS IS
ALREADY FILLED.
