Therapy Dog of the Month - Emma

"Honeytree's Rosie Blue Lady"

"Rosie"
Breed:  Shetland Sheepdog
Age:  8 years
Height:  14 1/2 inches tall at the shoulder
Weight:  24 pounds
Personality Characteristics:  Rosie has the sweetest personality of any dog I have ever known. She is absolutely gentle, loyal and loving. She is wonderful with children and is always ready to play with any dog that is interested. She is extremely intelligent, often learning new behaviors after only a few repetitions. Rosie's favorite things in the entire world to do are to play ball and play Frisbee. She is absolutely obsessed with both, and will play until she is totally exhausted! Although some Shetland Sheepdogs can be shy, Rosie is very outgoing and always likes to meet new people. She is a sensitive little dog, however, and she reacts very strongly to even the slightest hint of disapproval. I use lots of positive reinforcement in her training.
Training:  Rosie is currently training in Utility Obedience, Excellent Agility and Flyball.

Rosie loves her Pets for Vets visits. She starts crying in the car when we pull into the hospital entrance--she can't wait to get out and meet people! Since Rosie has been coming to Hines for therapy visits twice each week for the past two years, she has learned her job quite well. I don't even have to tell her to sit next to a wheelchair or jump up onto a chair or bed for petting-she does it by herself. She seems to instinctively know who needs special attention and will snuggle right up to those who need her most.
