Personality

Daisy is a cuddle bug, she loves to cuddle close to others. At the end of the day she will sit in my lap as I watch TV on the couch. She actively watches TV with me. Her favorite programs are ones with animals in them. She will bark if another dog barks on TV. She does not like scary movies, she will leave the room if a scary movie is on.

Daisy is very sweet, but she also has a naughty side to her when she bosses her three Sheltie brothers around at home. Being a herding breed she enjoys “herding” the squirrels in our back yard.

She absolutely LOVES freshly fallen snow. She will run and jump high in the air with great enthusiasm when there is fresh snow on the ground. It’s pure joyfulness! Her favorite treat is strawberries.

Training

Daisy has been involved in obedience training since she was 9 weeks old. She has been trained in basic to the most advanced Utility work. She also has been training for trick dog work and Rally training.

Daisy has several AKC Titles; including Canine Good Citizen Title, Intermediate Trick Dog Title, Farm Dog Title and Rally Novice Title. She has just started to show in AKC Obedience shows so I’m sure more titles will follow.

How do you know your dog enjoys being a therapy dog?

Daisy started therapy dog training, unintentionally, when she was 9 weeks old. She started by sitting in the lap of a friend at my dog training club for an hour or more at a time while I trained one of my other dogs. He was 96 at the time. She would cuddle in his lap while he petted and hugged her. She had done this weekly for 4 years, until recently at his passing. Daisy likes to cuddle or sit close to people. She seems to know when people might like some comfort from her.
